The semester began very fast. As first assignment, we are expected to work on architectural survey. But what is an architectural survey? We had presentation about it from our instructors. It is understanding the building by measuring and drawing n detail. Generally, it is used for restoration of historical building. Different types of measuring can be used in surveying such as laser scanner or photogrammetry. But we used the basic one: measuring by our own hand with a measure.
Before starting we had to assign zero points to the place that we worked. These zero points assigned by a water hose and thanks to it, zero points are all the same in the part that we work. After that we began to measure everything. Literally, everything. It is because in first we didn’t know what to measure and how we use them in the method that is named as triangulation. Triangulation is a method that we can understand if the plan of the building is perpendicular or not.
It was hard assignment. Because we measure everything and while drawing it we saw that we measured it wrongly. It was horrible because we measured again and again. I was the one that draw the short section of the F block corridor. You can see the measure that we took and the AutoCAD version of it below. (pdf)
